# For Newsrooms

Use any map on this site in your stories, on social and in print. Free, no sign-up. Credit how-big-is.com and link to the page you used.

## Credit wording

Credit: `Map: how-big-is.com. Outline: [the source named on the page].`

Online, please link "how-big-is.com" to the page you used. The embed and the downloaded images already carry the credit.

## Embedding

Every page has a "Use this map" panel under the map with ready-to-paste embed code. The embed is ad-free, works on phones, keeps the true size, and lets your readers drop the shape on their own town. Move or rotate the shape before copying and the embed opens on that view, so you can set it up over your own city.

## Images

"Download PNG" saves the current view with the title and credit built in. Frame the shot first: drop it on your city, drag and rotate it, then download.

## Sources and licences

Outlines from OpenStreetMap are © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database License, so keep that credit with the map. Country coastlines come from Natural Earth and US wildfire perimeters from NIFC; both are public domain. The basemap is © OpenStreetMap contributors and Protomaps.

## Breaking news

We map new events as they happen: wildfires, storms, floods, icebergs and anything else whose size is the story. Fire pages are refreshed when new perimeters are published, and every page shows when it was last updated. Need a specific outline? Email [hello@how-big-is.com](mailto:hello@how-big-is.com).
